What Is Content Marketing?

Do you have any idea what content marketing is?

More importantly, do you know why you should know the answer to “what is content marketing?”

We’ll try and answer both of those questions for you in this post so keep on reading.

SO… What is content marketing, and why is it important in business?

Maybe you’ve heard of this term being thrown about here and there over the last few years. In a nutshell content marketing is simply a marketing ‘buzzword’. Yeah that’s right I said it!

But seriously, all it means is if you’ve got great content you’ll drive visitors to your business from the sheer fact you’ve got all this cool stuff on your website and available through your targeted email campaigns.

We talk a lot around here about Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and the huge benefits it has to business. Well, SEO all revolves around content marketing. Actually let me rephrase that, all GOOD SEO revolves around content marketing.

There we go with the buzzword again right, let me tell you it’s hard not to use. But don’t forget all it means is great content will drive customers and sales to your business. It does this in a couple of ways;

1.  Good, engaging content by its very nature attracts people who want to read and share that content. If that content is sitting on your website then BONUS! Great content brings great readers, who then frequent your website, share and engage in your content, boosting your websites profile and increasing your Search Engine Ranking. It’s a cycle that once you get going you’ll wonder why you hadn’t started sooner. Win Win Win Win

Also Google loves to see regular content added to your website. Google also knows the difference between a stagnant website and a dynamic, regularly updated one. Guess which type of website it likes better?

And…..

2.  It sets you up to look like an expert in your field. With all that great content on your website how could you not? People love to acquire their goods and services from experts in the know. You’ve got all these expertise in your head, so get them down on paper!
